our grade
B+
Artist / Band:  David Byrne

Our Review:
For a while, it looked like David Byrne couldn't get any weirder--but then he did. The former Talking Heads member's last solo album was a collaboration with the peeps from Mogwai and Belle & Sebastian (bands very few people have heard of) on the soundtrack of Lead Us Not into Temptation (a movie that nobody has ever seen and that doesn't have James Caviezel in it). Just as we were about to give up all hope, Byrne comes back with an album like Grown Backwards. If it's not his best, it's easier to warm up to than most of his solo releases. This giant leap forward features delicious Brazilian rhythms, inspiring melodies and an amazing duet with Rufus Wainwright on "Au Fond du Temple Saint," from Georges Bizet's opera "The Pearl Fishers."
